Josuel Grech is 20 years old coming from the central city of Iklin. He is one of the new/younger Elvis Tribute Artists breaking through but when he was even younger he recalls sitting with his Grandma and watching G.I. Blues, he was transfixed and laughs as he remembers trying to sing along with the ‘Hup Two, Three Four’ parts 😀
Whilst still a young boy, Josuel was preparing for the Carnival to arrive in his home town and decided he would like to dress as his hero Elvis, Josuel picks up the story…
“It all started when I was about six, though I was already a huge Elvis fan at that time, Carnival was getting closer and I came up with the idea to dress up as Elvis. At school, we had a carnival party, and my mum and aunt tailored a light blue suit for me. Shortly after my mum heard they were looking for Elvis Fans for an interview on a local TV station and as soon as my mum called them they immediately asked me to try and perform a song. I decided to try performing the song, “Blue Suede Shoes” It was successful and after this, I started getting more invitations for TV and other Events – the response was quite a big one full of support. All of this stemmed from my grandmother, she is a huge fan of Elvis herself and I remember her mentioning him as her favorite singer of all time, how she used to go to the cinema to watch every single Elvis movie with her friend and that was it basically. The more I got to know about Elvis by reading, watching movies and listening to various songs the more my love of Elvis grew and it continues to grow to this day”
Josuel is a rare ETA in the respect that he performs early and late eras of Elvis Presley’s Legacy!
